5. The final push before unveiling…
Many late nights and long weekend days…but after the flooring was installed, tile backsplashes went up.
Even though it may seem like it’s small, finishing touches – it has still been a labor of love. The trailer is 40 years old, so there were added challenges to making sure everything was installed “level”.
The pop-up counters were stained to match the outside counters.
The trickiest obstacle for Chris was, by far, the package/prep counter at the head of the trailer. There wasn’t a single piece of metal that was level or easily maneuverable. However, he constructed, installed, and stained a perfectly level countertop that looks like it has always been there!
LED Lights were installed – which we are able to get the gist of now using extension cords. Soon enough, they’ll be hard-wired to a battery. Chris made and installed light deflectors which, essentially, match the baseboard trim pieces (that he also made/installed). These made such a difference in how bright the trailer lights up…pushing the illumination back up towards the curved roof.
Airshocks were added to each pop-out window
Next – handmade (by Chris) framed whiteboards were created and attached to each side door. These will list the menu and/or specials when The Hive is out on location.
The final “to do” list: install a battery and inverter, hard wire outlets and lights, wire trailer electrical (brake lights, etc…).
The very last step is to apply to logos and decals to the outside of the trailer - which are currently being cut by Coker Precision Graphics!
The next update will be when and where you can come check out the trailer in person for a soft opening!
